Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup of butter (room temp)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup pecan halves

Carmel Layer:

  • 2/3  cup butter
  • 1/2  cup packed brown sugar

Topping:


  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Make the crust by mixing the flour, butter, and brown sugar in a small bowl until the mixture holds together. 
  3. Pat the mixture into a 9x13 un-greased pan
  4. Spread pecans evenly over the crust
  5. Make the caramel by combining the brown sugar and butter in a sauce pan. Cook over medium high heat until it boils. Boil 1 minute.
  6. Pour  caramel over the crust. Bake 18 to 22 minutes at 350F, or until bubbly (after 15 minutes watch carefully). Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let the chips melt and then swirl the chocolate over the entire surface.
  7. Cool completely, and cut into bars.
